The New Year is the perfect time to try your hand at a new skill, so why not get creative with the new season of art classes and courses from dot-art. Working in partnership with Bluecoat and Hope Street Ltd in the city centre and Sefton Park Palm House in South Liverpool, we offer 10 week evening courses and one day workshops in Drawing, Painting, Photography and more.

The first week of February sees our evening classes begin, starting at Bluecoat who once again will be hosting the popular 10 week evening courses in Life Drawing, Beginners Painting (Acrylics) and Jewellery Making in Metal, as well as a Beginners Digital Photography Day in March, perfect for those who received a new camera for Christmas and don’t know where to start! New for this season, in February we have a Sunday Introduction to Portrait Drawing session, where artist Kathy Dereli will teach you the fundamentals of drawing characterful portraits.

Hope Street Ltd will be again be hosting Richard Meaghan’s 10 week evening course in Intermediate Painting (Oils), designed for those with some painting experience, or as a follow on to his Beginners Painting course, as well as Sculpture for Beginners with professional sculptor Faith Bebbington, who will help beginners and those wanting a refresher the chance to create their own small scale figurative sculpture using polymer clay.

Over in south Liverpool, we continue our series of Sketching in the Palm House events at Sefton Park Palm House in February and April. In addition we have a 10 Week Drawing in the Palm House evening course also led by award winning artist Josie Jenkins. Both the one day and 10 week courses will give you the opportunity to learn or recap basic techniques to help you draw from observation, try different materials and express what you see through drawing, in unique and inspiring surroundings. New for this season we have a Beginners Photowalk, led by Rachel Brewster, who will guide participants in a leisurely stroll around the Palm House and its surroundings, giving tips and tricks on how to get the best from your film, digital or even smartphone camera.

Full details, prices and booking information can be found here: dot-art.co.uk/art-classes. These courses often sell out, so don’t delay!
